Artist Profile: Paula Arwen Owen

     Paula Arwen Owen is an artist who works in hand cut paper silhouettes and collage, combining simple, elegant lines against tapestries of texture and color to create compelling narrative illustrations. The subjects of Paula’s work range from serene fantasy and nature to dark, gothic themes.  Her work has appeared in many magazines, such as Mythic Delirium, Sage Woman, and Strange Horizons.

She lives at the edge of an enchanted forest in the Catskill Mountains with her husband and a variety of creatures, domestic, wild, and mythical.

"I’m inspired my surroundings, as well as stories, dreams, myths, and legends," she explains.  "And I’m fascinated with the opposition of darkness and light—both literally and allegorically."
